We are Leaders of the Future!
We are Leaders of the Future!
The Leaders of the Future is a teen-led 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is
to transform the city of Pontiac through community service and positive action.
The LF was founded in September of 2013 by Pontiac School District students Anders Engnell, Courtland Sargent, Lauje Scott, Noel Waterman, and Steven Martinez. They wanted to create leadership opportunities for high schoolers, and three years later they’ve succeeded in bringing together thirty high school students every Friday night for leadership training and two Saturdays a month for community service.
Run by an 8-member Executive Team, our Leaders of the Future family plans to continue our phenomenal growth in the upcoming years.
We have three main activities as an organization: Friday Meetings, Superhero Saturdays, and the LF Golden Week.
Friday Meetings
Every Friday, the LF holds organizational meetings at the International Technology Academy in Pontiac. These meetings are from 2:30pm to 5pm. The purpose of the meetings is to engage the youth in leadership training and to plan the Superhero Saturdays. If you'd like a tour, connect with us at the Contact Us page. If you have a child in the LF, you are more than welcome to join us on these nights! |
Superhero Saturdays
During the Spring, Summer, and Fall, the LF will take two Saturdays every month and go out into the community to serve. These days are composed of 3 hours of community service and 3 hours of fun. Last year, the LF served at the Micah 6 Intentional Community in Pontiac and helped a Pontiac High School student complete his Eagle Scout project. For fun, the LF went lazer tagging and go-karting after the community service projects. |
The LF Golden Week
One week during the summer usually late July or mid August and spends their days there serving in the community and having fun together as a team. Last year, the team went hiking, toured downtowns, made a beach trip, and spent hours talking about God and enjoying each others' company! |
